Strong partnerships between teachers and parents are critical to student learning outcomes. However, in practice, communication between home and school is often inconsistent, one-directional, or difficult to act on.
In many classrooms, teachers share updates through newsletters, apps, or reports, but these are not always easily understood or actionable for parents. At the same time, parents may face barriers such as:
- limited time or availability
- language differences (e.g., EAL/D families)
- unfamiliarity with curriculum expectations (e.g., Australian Curriculum, NAPLAN)
- lack of confidence in supporting learning at home
This creates a gap between what is taught in the classroom and how learning is supported at home.
There is a demand for solutions that:
- make communication clearer, more accessible, and more personalised
- translate learning expectations into practical, actionable support for parents
- strengthen collaboration between teachers and families across diverse contexts
